Hi, my name is Alan (or Al, if you prefer) and welcome to Whiskey Straight – a personal blog of my ‘spiritual’ odyssey through the wonderful world of whiskey.

I’ve had a long-held passion for whiskey and the blog name derives from not only how I drink my whiskey – straight – but how I like to talk about whiskey. Here you’ll get my non-watered down views on all things whiskey, as well as other spirits, drinks and things that interest me. This will mostly be in the form of reviews or my general thoughts on a particular issue.

Just to be clear, I am not a whiskey expert, nor do I profess to be. I’m merely an enthusiast with a passion for sharing and enjoying it with others. My background is in journalism, corporate communications and social media, plus frontline emergency services roles.

As a Sarcoidosis sufferer, I will also occasionally use my blog to help raise awareness of the daily challenges of living with a debilitating, incurable disease.

My other passion in life is Arsenal – and, believe me, strong liquor is often required just because of that!
